Millipede

Millipedes are generally 1 to 2 inches long and vary from grayish to dark-brown in color. To distinguish them from centipedes, compare the number of legs per body segment -1 pair centipedes and 2 pair for millipedes. Their protection from predators is a scent gland and curling up like a spring. They do pose a problem to plants when some of the leaves touch the ground and begin to rot.
