Pavement Ant
Light to dark brown to black - parallel lines on head and thorax - 1/10” 2.5mm. Found through out the Eastern US. Builds nests near sidewalks, building foundations, rocks, firewood, and mulch beds. Nearly omnivorous - eating dead insects, grease, sweets, pet food.
