Earwigs

EarwigEarwigDespite the name, these insects do not have anything to do with human ears (and they don't eat brains). The scary pincers are used in defense and to help fold the wings. They are omnivorous and are beneficial to gardens by eating aphids and other plant eaters. They can grow up to 3/4" (19mm) long and lay around 60 eggs. They are commonly seen in garages and basements but live primarily outdoors.
