West Nile Season Starts

West Nile Virus season is upon us and it's time for all new mexicans to take a few moments to protect themselves from this deadly disease spread by mosquitos. June to September is prime mosquito season but as most of us know, it's the month of July when they become the biggest pain.

How can you protect yourself against these super tiny flying virus factories??

• Get rid of standing water- Don't let rain water collect and sit inside old tires, pots, children's toys and keep any small pools drained when not in use.
• Use Mosquito Repellant- When ever you are planning to be outside for any length of time put on some mosquito spray. If you don't like the oily feeling of DEET containing products, there are newer products available that contain oil of lemon eucalyptus, which works just as well and doesn't feel so oily.
• Keep indoors during dawn and dusk- While mosquitos can be active all day long, they are most active in the dawn and dusk hours. So if you have a major mosquito problem, avoid outside activities during these times.
